What is PBIS and How We Use It in TK–2nd Grade

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide framework we use to promote positive behavior and create a safe, respectful learning environment. In our TK through 2nd-grade classrooms, PBIS helps students understand and follow expected behaviors through clear guidelines outlined in our PBIS matrix.

Students earn PBIS points when they demonstrate behaviors that align with our school’s ROARS values: Respectful, On Time, Appropriate, Responsible, and Safe. These points can be used to shop from our online PBIS store, where a variety of fun and motivating items are available. Once an order is placed, items are delivered directly to the student’s classroom.

Each month, we also recognize outstanding students who consistently demonstrate ROARS behavior with our Student of the Month awards. Through PBIS, we aim to build a positive school culture where all students feel supported and celebrated for making good choices.
